About the Artist
I paint subjects that enchant me. Finding inspiration in rural landscapes and lush gardens, I am drawn to reds that pop and purples that linger in the shadows. I study a subject through sketching and photo journaling only to loose the tight specifics of those details as I paint my journey through each canvas. Oil paint is applied with both brushes and/or knives with layers and paint thickness varying with my tools. Knife paintings are direct applications of oil paint applied without a medium. Brushed paintings are applied with a non-toxic walnut oil alkyd medium. In my final assessment of each piece, it’s always the energy of the color that determines when I feel the work is complete.
