Digital Archiving and Reproductions

What is a Master-Quality fine art reproduction?

Not all fine art reproductions are created equal. The fact is, fine art reproductions vary widely in quality from company to company, and even from museum to museum. At Art Fifty Two, we’ve designed an integrated, state-of-the-art system that offers the highest-possible accuracy every step of the way—from digital archiving through color management and printing. Simply put, our Master-Quality fine art reproductions are of the best possible quality.

How do you digitally archive the image?

At Art Fifty Two, we believe that beautiful prints begin with a beautiful image. The quality of a fine art reproduction depends entirely on how the original artwork is captured. Art Fifty Two’s precision image capturing equipment is on par with systems employed by some of the world’s finest museums.

Using high-resolution digital scanning sensors with large-format cameras, professional graphic arts copy lenses and state-of-the-art HID studio lights, we work meticulously with each original artwork to ensure optimal lighting, accurate color representation and vibrant visual texture. We have worked with top experts in the world to develop a color management system that ensures our artists the best possible color reproduction of their work.

How are the prints made?

Each of our archival-quality fine art giclée prints are digitally prepared for a large format printer and meticulously scrutinized by our team of preferred printing partners to ensure quality and color correctness. We use only the finest archival inks and acid-free papers and canvas to ensure long-lasting prints of the highest-possible caliber.

How long does it take to produce a print?

All prints are produced on-demand for each order. This will take several days depending on the type of print and volume.

Non-Volume (up to 50 prints):
Paper: 3-5 business days
Canvas: 5-7 business days

Volume (over 50 prints):
Paper: 7-10 business days
Canvas: 7-10 business days

Do I get to keep the digital file of my artwork?

Yes. You can easily download it from your password protected Artist's Dashboard page.

What is a giclée print?

Giclée printing is the highest-quality fine art printing method available. Unlike traditional lithography, giclée printing not only incorporates more ink colors, but delivers much higher resolution and color range and accuracy.

What types of artwork can you create digital archives for?

We can digitally archive paintings, drawings, illustrations, photography, pastels, charcoals and many types of mixed media. Although our lighting techniques can emphasize textures of original pieces, we don't photograph sculptures or three-dimensional works at this time.
